Definition

Inflation is the rate at which prices for goods and services rise, reducing purchasing power. Central banks monitor inflation closely, often raising interest rates to combat high inflation, which can strengthen the currency.

Example

If US inflation rises to 5% while EU inflation stays at 2%, the Fed might raise rates more aggressively, potentially strengthening USD.
